A quick Card Tearing video for the curious - the video jumps a bit (using a camera with video function instead of an actual video camera).
If you really want to see what this should look like go over to Adam Glass' blog.
It's funny filming things like this because all of the sudden I am self conscious about how it will look and having a successful tear. And it's not like I am not used to being on camera.
WOW! That was awesome! I also noticed how you held the deck with your left hand! I wil try that as its my left hand which is letting me done!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteYour left side has something weird going on with your hand/wrist position. The thumb must be clamped over the deck and the tear starts with Ulna diviation (spelling?) and rotation towards the chest (which you understand) but for some reason the hand position looks weird to me.
Also, leaning forward like that may not be the best body angle. Experiment with hands directly in front, to the right more, and maybe even lower positioning.
All in all- good tearing. Good speed with those cards, not much anyone can complain about what so ever.
Are you left handed Brett?
ReplyDeleteThanks Terence - let me know if that works for you.
ReplyDeleteAdam - we will have to compare notes in April at the RKC - I will experiment with the body position (that is what I thought you would comment on especially the winging of the elbows away from the body.
Dan - I am Right handed but holding the bottom of the deck with my right hand does not feel right at all so I switched over to the left on bottom - right on top.

ReplyDeleteJust re-read my response and realized I got it a bit backwards.
My Right hand is my bottom hand and my Left hand is on top.
Man - i really got my compass spun on that one...
I noticed something that I have not seen in a long time in the video--your hair! Is this a new trend or a way to keep warm in the winter?
ReplyDeleteNice work on the tearing and glad the knee is back to almost 100%. Keep up the stellar work!
Rock on
