Gray Cook's new book Movement
Get it - read it - learn it - This is the resource for understanding Movement foundation and Movement Screening.
Bodyweight Skill and Strength
Two Resources stand out above the others:
Naked Warrior
Convict Conditioning
These two books provide a lifetime of information and potential in the arena of bodyweight training and strength training.
Every time I revisit either of the books I am reminded of how much knowledge can be taken from them. Using the high tension techniques from Naked Warrior and the progressions from Convict Conditioning in their proper places is a powerful combination.
I personally am working on a CC routine myself working on the first stages of the Push-up, Leg Raise, Squat and Bridge (pull-ups will be worked in once I have consistent access to a bar).

It's great to know that someone who's obviously quite advanced in training, is going back to what many would regard as the 'baby steps' of the Convict Conditioning program. I intend to register for an HKC certification that's being held in February, and my plan between now and then (though it hasn't been fully structured yet) is to start out with those very same basic steps to get some strength in my tendons.
ReplyDeleteI'll probably be doing a lot of stuff that you've been writing about recently, including yoga, SMR and maybe also checking out some of the more new-fangled concepts, such a club swinging and primitive patterns. I hope I actually do now this time around
