Training today - 10/30/07...

Squats - 405 x 3, 455 x 2, 405 x 3, 455 x 2, 405 x 3
MP - 135 x 3, 155 x 3,3,3,3

Squats felt very good and went very deep for all the reps - MP - well - I just have to work on that.

Otherwise - sticking with the Z and having fun.

  1. 155 ain't bad for reps in the MP. My goal has always been to military press my bodyweight at 170 pounds. Not a bad goal for every man in my oppinion. A strict bodyweight military press should be in order, do you agree?

right now I would be hard pressed to get 135. 115 feels pretty heavy now

  2. I agree with Franz. The benefits of this exercise have been extraordinary for me, and any time spent with it is valuable IMO.

95 lbs. was my original working weight last year when I started up after a 20-year hiatus. Once I built up to an on-demand 135 single, I decided never to load the bar any lighter than that ever again. It worked!

155 is my 3-rep PR. Brett's workout looks like a goal to me.

Knowing you Brett, you'll soon enough do a +bw Barbell Press! How wide do you grab the bar? I have experimented with different widths but found that I am at my strongest when I have a somewhat narrow grip- that something that wouldn't be expected....

  4. What is more difficult? MP 135 lbs on the bar or double pressing 2 32kgs kbs? Almost the same weight...

  5. its fun to watch all of these barbell MP cycles. makes me want to join in.

tim-my vote goes to the KBs in terms of difficulty.

  6. Brett, cool stuff man. KB press really helped my bench. I'm sure BB press should do the same thing for you.

Tim 2 70's are A LOT harder for me that 135 on the bar. I can do a single or a couple of reps with 135. Can't touch 2 70's yet.

  7. Thanks everyone - sorry for the delays in responses...
Franz - a bodyweight MP is a great goal.
Aaron - thanks we will see where I end up - if I stick with the MP cycle.
Kenneth - I too am pretty narrow with the MP grip.
Tim = KB presses typically but I can still press the Beast for one rep on the right hand but would be hard pressed (ha-ha) to hit 212# on the Barbell press right now -so it does vary.
    Thanks Sean and Royce
