I've read the advert for this product, and it seems very interesting. I can see what the idea is about, in regards to a total body lift/movement. The advert seems to suggest that isolation movements are deleterious for movement patterns, etc. Would it be possible that you could help me fill in the gaps in my education about all these concepts? Thus far, I've seen exercise trends shift from leg-curls/leg-extensions, to one-legged straight leg deadlifts. From sit-ups, to the 'far superior' swiss ball crunch, to the widely accepted plank/side bridge that is en vogue nowadays. We've seen the pec-deck go by the wayside, and simple push-ups are now an extremely technical art. I think these changes are great, and make great sense. I can also accept that TGUs are probably a very superior exercise, having seen the reasons why on other Secrets of ... dvds. I'm just wondering are exercises like face-pulls, prone lower trap raises (Ys), Bulgarian split squats etc (ie the now widely accepted as 'good exercises') now redundant? It's a broad topic, I realize, so any light you could shed on a part of the answer would be much welcomed.
Thank you Bill - I look forward to your comments on the DVD.
Rif, Thank you - things are speeding along and I am having a great time.
gunther, I don't think the exercises you listed are redundant just that they are to bring up specific areas or "weaknesses". The TGU product is to emphasize to people the need for symmetrical movement, stability and strength which some popular fitness programs and techniques do not emphasize or encourage. We are not even saying that this is the only way to do the Get-up - just that this is a detailed way to go after symmetry etc... Hope that helps
