Going to be taking it easy for a while...
Good training today:
Prep - ASLR, T-spine, Club Swinging
10 minutes of Get-ups w/ 20kg KB - various styles
6 sets of: (w/ 20 kg KB)
Goblet Squat x 10 + Alt swings x 10 + Full Bridge x 3
Inversion table to finish
Club Swinging is feeling great.
I'll be getting surgery on a ventral hernia this december so I'll be taking it easy on my training.
This is the reason you haven't seen a lot of high tension exercise on my training recently.
Just gotta roll with it!
Hope your operation goes well! How did you develop it? High tension exercises or something else? Can they be genetic!
ReplyDeletehope you are well Brett!
Maybe it started the first time Gray put you in the bretzel? Just kidding, hope it goes well man.
ReplyDeleteTommy P
Franz,
ReplyDeleteI had an appendectomy in 2000 so it is near an old surgical site (ventral hernias are also called incisional hernias) but I also have a history of a left inguinal hernia and the weaknesses in the abdominal wall can be congenital.
Thanks Tommy
Best wishes for the operation. I'm sure your easy training will give us plenty of food for thought.
ReplyDeleteMike Robertson reckons that one must earn the right to even lift a weight in the first place (through bodyweight exercises, etc). My training is still at the 'easy' stage, as I'm still earning that right. (Why couldn't it be as easy as earning the right to party?)
Even though i'd like to be training heavier, I'm finding there are plenty of ways to really get a training effect. And as I learned from yourself, movement is highly important.
Sorry to hear that Brett, hope everything goes well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Davor and Carl - it'll be nice to be one piece and able to hit the high tension techniques again
ReplyDeleteBrett, been meaning to ask you on this...My brother in law wants to do kb training but he has a hernia as well party due to a colon surgery where alot of the colon was removed. He has since put on weight that has made this worse I think. What are your thoughts on this? Is repair necessary before trying kbs? The Drs don't know kb training well so I am curious to know what your thoughts are in terms of him beginning training.
