Bench and Upper and some conditioning...

These are hard days for me to get excited about since I am just not a huge bench fan - I love the efficiency of the movement (one big press for the upper body) but just don't like it all that much and as Marty Gallagher put it "You are just not built to bench" - words to listen to.

Bench with doubled mini bands - 185 x 3,3,3,3,3,3,3
Floor Tricep Ext. - 95 x 6, 115 x 4,3,3, 95 x 6
Sternum Pull-ups (bw) x 5,5,5
Alternating sets of Swings and bupees -
40KG swings x 10,10,10,10,10
Burpees x 10,10,10,10,10

I might actually be forgetting some of my workout -which means it wasn't important ;)

Foam roller, stretch and recover today and Squats on Thursday.

First, if you dont learn to love it it will not improve very fast. Take it from me. Second, why are you not built to bench, according to marty? You have broad shoulders, short arms and strong lats. granted you need more triceps but I dont understand that comment.
puttiong another 50 pound on your bench will definitely help your total, and it wont take that much energy, not tear you down much.especially compared to 50 more pounds on the dl or squat

Rif,
I know - I have to learn to love it and there are times when I really enjoy benching - just frustrated at the moment.
I didn't understand Marty's statement either but he must be seeing something he doesn't like.
And - adding 50 pounds to my total would/will be great but it will probably come from a combination of the three going up.
We'll discuss this in depth at the June cert.

I neglectedmy bench for all those years because it was a strong point for me and now I wish I had given it more. You never know how much you miss something til you can't do it anymore :))
we'll talk in depth in june.

I'm definitely not built for bench, very long arms. I'm learning to like it, I find it to be my least controllable exercise.

Christine,
Long arms don't help at all but great for the DL!
